Artist Statement
“Simplicity is complex” - Grace Rodriguez
What does home feel like to you? What does it look like? This surreal series of art combines portraits and landscapes. The art captures a portrait of an individual, sharing a connection to the landscape that reminds them of what home is to them. Pulling influences from the artist Beau Frank, I have been captivated by his technique and creativity when he combines portraits and landscape sceneries. Inspired by this, these series share vulnerability, connection, and identity between the viewers and the portrait paintings of these individuals.
